“How a dog behaves at any given time in their life is as a result of a constant and fluid interplay between their genetic potential and their environment.” (Dr Bruce Fogle – Author of a dog’s mind))

Of all the species that coexist with us on earth today the dog is probably the closest to our hearts. We have lived alongside them for thousands of years, sharing our food, shelter and companionship. As such, you imagine we would have a deep understanding of their innate drives, behaviours, feelings and communication systems facilitating the formation of a deep bond which makes both them and us happy.

As their journey through the world we have created for them progresses we will see them develop emotionally and cognitively during the key developmental milestones, if we understand what we are witnessing it is a joy to behold. With my help you will understand puppyhood, a time when curiosity and an adventurous spirit ignites their ability to learn. Adolescence, typically, is marked by a ‘devil may care’ attitude, testing the boundaries that we thought were set in stone, early adulthood and full maturity continue to shape our dog’s ever changing behaviours and responses to the world around them.

With my support you will be able to nurture and support your dog through these key stages with a good understanding of how your dog thinks, when we anthropomorphise them we are actually missing out on the opportunity to truly understand them as they really are.

Dogs possess incredible cognitive powers enabling them to acquire information about their environment, they are astonishingly perceptive, sensitive to our emotional ups and downs, picking up on the subtle nuances of our moods before we or other humans around us do. This ability to read us can often lead to some of the behaviours we struggle with and we can unwittingly be complicit within the behaviour cycle. I will help you make sense of the subtleties of your dog’s body language and social cues and this insight will undoubtedly be instrumental in facilitating behaviour modification.

Are you struggling to understand your dog’s behaviour? It could be pulling on their lead, excessive barking, reactivity towards people, dogs, bikes, separation anxiety or just the occasional stubborn streak when they refuse to listen to you. I am here to assist, I have worked alongside leading behaviourists for 6 years and have studied extensively with the British College of Canine Studies. I specialise in determining the root cause of a dog’s challenging or unwanted behaviour with a view to introducing strategies and techniques that will modify those behaviours leading to a calmer and happier household. Together we will harness positive reinforcement techniques balanced with clear communication with your dog, we will explore how to guide and direct your dog calmly and consistently. Each assessment is personalised, ensuring that the strategies we implement fit your dog’s unique personality and their breed specific characteristics and traits.

Join the countless dog owners who have established a harmonious living relationship with their dogs with my help, we can work together so that your dog can reach their full potential as can you as their trusted guardian.
